Our Story

Sidewalk Side Studio is an exemplar of artistic dedication and community engagement in New Orleans' vibrant art scene. Founded in 2018 by Lindsey Roussel and managed by Gallery Director Anne Lipscomb, the studio originated from a shared vision during their tenure at Magazine Street Framing. This vision was not only to showcase art but to create a nurturing environment for local artists, reflecting their deep commitment to the craft and community.

The gallery proudly displays a diverse array of artwork, including photography, sculptures, pottery, stained glass, mixed media, and paintings, insisting on only the highest standards of quality and innovation. This commitment is underpinned by their involvement in pioneering projects like the Gulf Souths’ first NFT gallery show, demonstrating their forward-thinking approach and embrace of new digital art forms.

Sidewalk Side Studio is more than just a gallery; it's a creative hub where the founders, affectionately known as the "Gallery Girls," continue to work closely, crafting their art and framing pieces, thereby maintaining the heartbeat of their dream-turned-reality. They describe the gallery as a "perfect representation" of their identity as artists and trusted fine art vendors, emphasizing the familial bond that forms the core of their operations.

For anyone interested in the contemporary art scene, or looking to experience the innovative integration of traditional and digital art, Sidewalk Side Studio is a compelling destination. They are open six days a week, welcoming art lovers and collectors to explore their carefully curated collections and perhaps find something extraordinary to take home.

“Now - after so many long and loving hours spent working on this gallery - I can’t tell you how good it feels to know that we got it exactly right. It’s a perfect representation of who we are as both artists and trusted sellers of Fine Art. These Girls are my family. I couldn’t have done any of this without them.”
-Lindsey

Lindsey

Lindsey Roussel is the owner and Gallery Director of Sidewalk Side Studio. She graduated from UNO with a BFA in photography, and quickly put her skills to use by opening Magazine Street Framing. She honed her artistic eye as Director of Guy Lyman Fine Art for 8 years, all the while producing art of her own.

Her latest photo show “Sad Bikes” was incredibly well received and set a gallery record of selling 15 pieces in one day. Currently she is getting back to her painterly roots by making pieces with large color fields and various types of poured paint methods.

“Photography will always be my true love, but sometimes you have to embrace the chaos and create what feels right in the moment.” -L.
